Aden - The judging panel of the “Prince of Poets” competition in Aden has announced the qualification of 64 poets to the second round, following a rigorous evaluation of 563 eligible poems out of a total of 805 submissions from participants across Yemen’s liberated governorates.

This announcement marks the launch of the competition’s second phase, which will see intense competition among the 64 qualified poets to select just 32 for the decisive final rounds. The event is characterized by meticulous organization and heightened preparations that reflect the aspirations of Yemen’s literary community.

The judging committee praised the high quality of the submissions, noting the rich linguistic expression, artistic diversity, and cultural depth present in the poems. They also commended the strong poetic talent and social awareness of the contestants. The initial selection phase, they remarked, was both “intense and commendable,” making the evaluation process particularly challenging.

The city of Aden witnessed the launch of the “Prince of Poets” competition in early July, as a literary initiative supported by the UAE Ministry of Culture. The event marks a new chapter in the UAE’s ongoing commitment to supporting Arab literature and culture, while also fostering creative momentum in Yemen.
