Sana'a - Israeli airstrikes targeted Sanaa International Airport in Yemen, resulting in severe damage and the suspension of all flights until further notice. 

The attack, which followed a Houthi missile strike near Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport, caused an estimated $500 million in losses.

According to airport officials, the strikes destroyed terminal buildings, equipment, and devices, leaving the facility inoperable. 

Additionally, six aircraft were completely destroyed, including three belonging to Yemenia Airways. A warehouse was also leveled to the ground, further complicating recovery efforts.

The airport’s general director, Khaled al-Shaief, stated that while temporary alternatives are being considered to reopen the airport, full rehabilitation will require significant time and resources. 

The attack has heightened tensions in the region, as the Houthis have vowed to respond to the strikes.

The incident comes amid ongoing hostilities between Israel and the Houthis, who have been targeting Israeli and commercial vessels in the Red Sea since late 2023 in solidarity with Palestinians. 

The recent ceasefire agreement between the Houthis and the United States, mediated by Oman, does not include Israel, leaving uncertainty about future developments.
