Extreme weather conditions, including heavy rains and flooding led to climate-induced displacement across Yemen from January to August 2023; affecting a staggering 109,830 individuals (15,690 households); the majority of those affected residing in areas that are hard-to-reach and host displaced persons.

The Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM) Cluster, comprising of UN and humanitarian organizations, stepped up its response, expanding its operational presence across 18 severely-affected governorates to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of lifesaving assistance to affected communities. Sixty-seven percent of individuals assisted through the RRM were directly impacted by floods and extreme weather conditions. In total, the RRM cluster provided lifesaving supplies to 107,989 individuals (15,427 households), grappling with severe weather conditions.

Since January 2023, the RRM cluster has assisted 162,120 persons (23,160 households) displaced due to extreme weather conditions resulting from climatic changes and/or the ongoing armed conflict; highlighting the compounding difficulties faced by those displaced and most vulnerable.
