Aden -- The World Health Organization has reported more than 87,000 new cases of cholera in Yemen since the beginning of this year, underscoring the severity of the country’s ongoing health and humanitarian crisis.

According to the report, the outbreak is concentrated across several governorates, where fragile health infrastructure and limited access to clean water and sanitation services continue to fuel the spread of the disease. 

WHO warned that the actual number of infections may be higher than reported due to limited diagnostic and surveillance capacity in remote areas.

The organization stressed that cholera remains a serious threat to millions of Yemenis, urging urgent humanitarian interventions, including awareness campaigns, improved water and sanitation networks, and expanded access to treatment and medical support.
