Mukalla — Yemen’s health authorities have announced raising preparedness levels at Riyan International Airport to counter the threat of the Marburg virus, in close cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Ministry of Health stated that the move is part of precautionary measures following global alerts about the virus. Riyan Airport has been equipped with specialized medical teams and modern screening devices to strengthen early detection and rapid response capabilities.

Officials emphasized that cooperation with WHO aims to ensure compliance with international public health standards, including enhanced surveillance, readiness of reserve isolation centers, and intensified awareness campaigns for travelers and airport staff.

This measure comes within Yemen’s broader national alert strategy to prevent any potential spread of the virus, particularly given regional and international travel flows through the Red Sea and Indian Ocean corridors.
