UK Labour Friends of Yemen Appoint Alex Bulenger as New Chair
London — The Labour Friends of Yemen group in the British Labour Party has announced the appointment of Member of Parliament Alex Bulenger as its new chair, succeeding MP Gill Furniss.
The group, which advocates for stronger UK engagement in supporting Yemen’s stability and humanitarian needs, said the leadership transition reflects its commitment to amplifying parliamentary support for Yemen amid ongoing conflict and humanitarian challenges.
Bulenger, a sitting member of the House of Commons, pledged to continue the group’s mission of raising awareness about Yemen’s crisis within the Labour Party and across Westminster. He emphasized the importance of building cross-party consensus to ensure Britain plays a constructive role in international efforts to achieve peace and alleviate suffering in Yemen.
Gill Furniss, who previously chaired the group, was praised for her dedication in highlighting Yemen’s plight and strengthening ties between British lawmakers and Yemeni civil society advocates.
The announcement marks a new phase for Labour Friends of Yemen, as it seeks to expand its influence in shaping UK policy discussions on regional security and humanitarian aid.
