Sana’a – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has announced an urgent appeal for more than $800 million to confront worsening food insecurity and rising hunger levels in Yemen throughout the coming year.

According to WFP, millions of Yemenis remain at risk of acute food shortages as conflict, economic decline, and climate shocks continue to erode livelihoods. 

The agency warned that without immediate funding, its ability to sustain life‑saving assistance will be severely compromised, leaving vulnerable families exposed to malnutrition and starvation.

WFP officials stressed that the requested funds are critical to expand emergency food distributions, support nutrition programs for children and mothers, and stabilize communities facing the highest levels of deprivation. 

The agency underscored that Yemen remains one of the world’s largest humanitarian crises, with nearly half of the population requiring food assistance.
