Taiz — Dozens of wounded soldiers from the Yemeni army continued their protests in Taiz governorate for the third consecutive day, demanding urgent medical treatment, financial support, and recognition of their service.

The demonstrators, many of whom suffer from long-term injuries sustained during battles against Houthi forces, gathered outside government buildings and military offices in central Taiz, chanting slogans and holding banners that called for justice and accountability.

Protesters accused local authorities and the Ministry of Defense of neglecting their cases and failing to deliver promised aid, including medical referrals abroad and monthly stipends. Some participants said they had been waiting for years without access to proper healthcare or rehabilitation.

“We sacrificed everything for this country, and now we’re left to suffer in silence,” said one protester, who lost a leg in combat and has been unable to afford prosthetic treatment.

The protests come amid growing frustration over corruption and mismanagement within military institutions, as well as delays in disbursing funds allocated for wounded veterans. Activists and civil society groups in Taiz have expressed solidarity with the protesters, urging the government to respond swiftly and transparently.

Taiz remains one of Yemen’s most volatile frontlines, with thousands of soldiers and civilians affected by years of conflict. The wounded veterans say they will continue their demonstrations until their demands are met.
