Yemen : Five Killed, Nine Injured in Traffic Accident in Southern Taiz
Taiz — A devastating traffic accident in the mountainous Naqil Haifan area, south of Taiz governorate, claimed the lives of five people and left nine others injured on Wednesday, according to local sources.
The crash occurred when a passenger vehicle lost control while navigating a steep and winding stretch of road, plunging into a ravine. Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle was carrying multiple families traveling between rural villages in the Haifan district.
Medical teams and local residents rushed to the scene to assist the victims. The injured were transported to nearby hospitals in Taiz city, where they are receiving treatment for injuries ranging from minor to critical.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident, which is believed to be linked to poor road conditions and possible brake failure. The Naqil Haifan route is notorious for its sharp turns, lack of guardrails, and frequent landslides, especially during the rainy season.
This incident adds to a growing toll of road fatalities in Yemen, where deteriorating infrastructure and limited traffic enforcement continue to endanger lives.
