Aden -- The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), through its Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM) and with support from the European Union, delivered emergency life-saving assistance to nearly 300,000 people across Yemen in 2025. 

The aid was mobilized in response to urgent needs arising from repeated climate-related disasters that have exacerbated vulnerabilities in the country.

The RRM provided critical supplies including hygiene kits, reproductive health items, and protection services—particularly for women and girls—who face heightened risks during emergencies. 

The assistance was deployed swiftly to communities affected by floods, droughts, and other extreme weather events, helping to preserve dignity and prevent further harm.

“Yemen continues to endure the compounded effects of conflict and climate shocks,” said a UNFPA spokesperson. “Thanks to the EU’s support, we were able to respond rapidly and reach hundreds of thousands with essential aid that prioritizes health, safety, and resilience.”

The European Union reaffirmed its commitment to humanitarian action in Yemen, emphasizing the importance of protecting vulnerable populations and supporting sustainable recovery.

This joint effort highlights the critical role of international partnerships in addressing the growing humanitarian consequences of climate change, especially in crisis-affected regions like Yemen.
