SANAA — Senior Houthi figure Mohammed Al-Jammal has reportedly led a large-scale military campaign in the Hamdan district, northwest of Sanaa, deploying armed militants, medium-caliber weapons, and military vehicles to intimidate residents and forcibly seize vast areas of private land.

According to local sources, the campaign targeted multiple properties owned by civilians, with the total area of confiscated land exceeding 60,000 labnah—a traditional Yemeni unit of measurement equivalent to roughly 2,700 square meters per labnah.

Human rights organizations have condemned the use of military force to dispossess civilians, calling it a flagrant violation of property rights and international humanitarian law. They urged the international community to document such abuses and hold perpetrators accountable.

The incident has sparked outrage among local communities, who accuse the Houthis of weaponizing state institutions and using fear to expand their territorial and economic control.
