Yemen's Houthi militia said on Monday that it launched a drone attack toward Abha airport in southwestern Saudi Arabia, the Houthi-run al-Masirah TV reported.

"The attack hit a vital military target accurately," the TV quoted a statement from the group's military spokesman Yahya Sarea as saying.

Meanwhile, the Saudi-owned Al Arabiya television reported that the Saudi-led coalition forces intercepted and destroyed an explosive-laden drone fired by the Houthi militia from Yemen toward Saudi Arabia.

It was the seventh drone attack announced by the Houthi militia on Saudi Arabia in three days, according to the Houthi television.

All previous drone attacks were intercepted and destroyed by the Saudi-led coalition forces, according to the coalition statements.

The Iran-backed Houthi militia has recently increased cross-border drone and missile attacks on Saudi facilities. Most of the drones and missiles had been reportedly foiled by the Saudi-led coalition forces.
