"A group of unknown militants opened fire on the soldier and a Red Crescent worker who were riding a motorbike in the Mudhafar district, killing them both instantly," the source told The Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity, adding that the attackers had managed to escape.
No group has claimed responsibility for the deadly shooting, but such attacks are typically blamed on the Al-Qaeda-linked Ansar al-Sharia militant group.
