Yemen: STC Forces Deny Government Allegations Over Deadly Clashes in Hadramout
Aden – Southern Transitional Council (STC)-affiliated forces on Saturday rejected accusations issued by Yemen’s General Staff, which claimed they were responsible for killing and injuring dozens of soldiers during an attack on positions of the First Military Region in Hadramout, eastern Yemen.
In an official statement, the STC forces dismissed the allegations of executing wounded soldiers and killing detainees as “falsehoods and misleading fabrications”, describing them as part of a campaign of incitement and distortion. The statement accused the General Staff of engaging in “hostile propaganda serving the Houthis and the Muslim Brotherhood.”
The southern forces emphasized that the timing of the General Staff’s statement coincides with sensitive efforts led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to unify military operations against the Houthis. They cited remarks by STC President Aidarus Al-Zubaidi, who recently declared that “the era of side battles has ended, and the goal is Sana’a.”
