Aden -- In a formal ceremony held at Al-Maashiq Palace in Aden, Yemen’s interim capital, Faraj Salmin al-Khanbashi took the constitutional oath of office as the new Governor of Hadramout. 

The swearing-in was conducted before senior government officials, marking a significant step in the administration’s efforts to strengthen governance in one of Yemen’s most strategic provinces.

Hadramout, Yemen’s largest governorate, holds critical importance due to its geographical size, natural resources, and strategic coastline along the Arabian Sea. 

The appointment of Khanbashi comes at a time when the government is seeking to consolidate authority, improve local administration, and enhance security and development efforts in the region.

Officials attending the ceremony emphasized the importance of Khanbashi’s role in addressing the province’s challenges, including economic recovery, service delivery, and stability amid ongoing conflict. 

The new governor pledged to work closely with local communities and national institutions to advance development projects and strengthen resilience against the humanitarian crisis.

The swearing-in at Al-Maashiq Palace underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining Aden as the seat of legitimacy and constitutional authority, while reinforcing its presence across Yemen’s southern and eastern governorates.
