Yemen’s PLC President Praises UAE’s Latest Support for Electricity Sector
Aden — The Chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council has hailed the United Arab Emirates for its latest support to the country’s electricity sector, valued at $1 billion.
The assistance was provided under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and is seen as a crucial step toward easing chronic power shortages across Yemen.
The announcement came during a meeting at Al-Maashiq Palace in Aden, where the Council’s chairman received the UAE Ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed Al-Zaabi.
Discussions focused on the importance of the Emirati aid in stabilizing electricity services, improving infrastructure, and alleviating the hardships faced by Yemeni citizens.
Officials emphasized that the billion-dollar package reflects the depth of bilateral ties and the UAE’s commitment to humanitarian and development support in Yemen.
“This generous initiative will help restore essential services and strengthen resilience in the face of ongoing challenges,” the Council’s chairman noted.
Local communities have welcomed the announcement, expressing hope that the aid will translate into more reliable power supply in the coming months.
