Paris — The United Kingdom, France, and the United States issued a joint statement strongly condemning the recent arbitrary rulings by Houthi militias in Yemen, which call for the execution of United Nations staff members.

The three governments denounced the decisions as “unjust and unacceptable,” stressing that such actions represent a blatant violation of international law and fundamental human rights. The statement also highlighted the Houthis’ ongoing campaign of arbitrary arrests, targeting humanitarian workers and civilians alike, which further undermines peace and stability in Yemen.

Calling the rulings “an assault on the principles of justice and humanity,” the joint communiqué demanded the immediate and unconditional release of all UN employees currently detained by the Houthis.

The UK, France, and US reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the United Nations’ mission in Yemen and underscored that the protection of humanitarian staff is essential to ensuring aid delivery to millions of Yemenis suffering from conflict and economic collapse.

The statement concluded with a warning that continued abuses by the Houthis will only deepen Yemen’s isolation and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis, urging the group to respect international obligations and cease its campaign of intimidation against aid workers.
