Yemen’s PLC President Launches Investigation into Taiz Convoy Assault
Aden -- Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi has directed the establishment of a special committee to investigate the recent armed attack against the convoy of Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan, according to official sources.
The incident, which occurred amid heightened security tensions in Taiz, has raised concerns over the fragile stability in the governorate.
Al-Alimi emphasized that the committee must work swiftly to uncover the circumstances of the assault, identify those responsible, and ensure accountability through legal measures.
He stressed that such acts of violence undermine efforts to restore security and stability in Taiz, a city long besieged by Houthi forces and plagued by internal unrest.
The directive came following urgent consultations with local authorities and security leaders in Taiz.
Al-Alimi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting state officials and institutions, noting that the attack represents a dangerous escalation against legitimate authorities.
Governor Shamsan, who survived the attack, has been a central figure in coordinating humanitarian and administrative efforts in Taiz.
His convoy was reportedly ambushed by unidentified gunmen, though details of casualties remain unclear
