Sana’a – Yemeni authorities have officially completed the integration of the country’s fragmented intelligence agencies, marking a major milestone in ongoing national security and institutional reform efforts.

The unification process, which has been underway for several months, brings together multiple intelligence and security bodies under a centralized command structure. 

Officials say the move is aimed at enhancing coordination, improving information-sharing, and strengthening the state’s ability to respond to internal and external threats.

“This step is critical to restoring the rule of law and rebuilding trust in national institutions,” said a senior government official involved in the process. “A unified intelligence apparatus will help ensure greater efficiency, accountability, and national cohesion.”

The integration includes the consolidation of military intelligence, political security, and national security services, many of which had operated independently or under rival authorities during years of conflict. The restructuring is also expected to streamline operations, reduce duplication, and improve oversight mechanisms.

International observers and regional partners have welcomed the development, viewing it as a positive signal of Yemen’s commitment to institutional reform and long-term stability. 

The United Nations and other stakeholders have emphasized the importance of inclusive and transparent security sector reform as part of the broader peace process.

The newly unified intelligence body is expected to play a central role in counterterrorism, border security, and the protection of national sovereignty, while adhering to legal frameworks and human rights standards.
