Yemen : Houthi Missile Fired Toward Israel Crashes Mid-Flight
Sana'a – A ballistic missile launched by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi movement toward Israel crashed before reaching its intended target early Wednesday, according to regional defense sources.
The failed launch marks the third attempted strike by the Houthis in under 24 hours, amid escalating tensions following recent Israeli airstrikes in Yemen.
The missile, reportedly fired from Houthi-controlled territory in northern Yemen, triggered early warning systems in southern Israel but did not breach Israeli airspace. No casualties or damage were reported.
Israeli military officials have not confirmed interception, suggesting the projectile may have malfunctioned or self-destructed mid-flight. The incident follows two previous launches—one of which was intercepted over central Israel, and another that reportedly targeted Ramon Airport near Eilat.
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree claimed responsibility for the wave of attacks, describing them as part of an “escalating response” to Israeli operations in Sanaa and Hodeidah, which have left dozens dead, including senior Houthi officials.
The surge in missile activity underscores growing regional volatility, as the Houthis vow continued retaliation in solidarity with Palestinians amid the ongoing Gaza conflict.
