Sana'a – Yemen’s Houthi movement announced on Thursday that it had launched a multi-warhead ballistic missile targeting central Israel, marking a significant escalation in its ongoing campaign of solidarity with Gaza. 

The missile, identified by Houthi military spokesperson General Yahya Saree as a “Palestine-2” hypersonic projectile equipped with fragmentation warheads, reportedly struck sensitive sites in the occupied Negev region.

According to Saree, the operation was part of a dual strike that also included drone attacks on Ramon Airport and an Israeli military installation. “Millions of Israelis were forced into shelters,” he claimed, vowing continued retaliation for Israeli airstrikes that killed dozens in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen earlier this week.

The Israeli military confirmed intercepting a missile launched from Yemen but did not verify the warhead type. 

Debris from the interception was found near Jerusalem, and air raid sirens were triggered across Tel Aviv, the Dead Sea, and surrounding regions. No casualties were reported.

This marks the third hypersonic missile fired by the Houthis in 24 hours, and the first confirmed use of a multi-warhead configuration. Analysts suggest the missile design closely resembles Iranian Fateh-110 variants, raising concerns over Tehran’s expanding support for its Yemeni proxy.

The escalation follows Israeli airstrikes on Sana’a and al-Jawf, which the IDF said targeted Houthi military infrastructure. Meanwhile, the U.S. Treasury announced sweeping sanctions on Houthi-linked entities involved in weapons procurement and smuggling networks.
