JIAT Denies Coalition Targeted Civilian Sites in Yemen
RIYADH — The Joint Incident Assessment Team (JIAT) has officially denied allegations that the Arab Coalition targeted civilian sites during recent military operations in Yemen, reaffirming its commitment to international humanitarian law and the protection of non-combatants.
In a press briefing held earlier this week, JIAT spokesperson Maj. Gen. Mansour Al-Mansour presented findings from multiple investigations into reported incidents, stating that the reviewed operations were directed at legitimate military targets and conducted in accordance with established rules of engagement.
“Our assessments are based on rigorous analysis of operational data, satellite imagery, and field reports,” Al-Mansour said. “We found no evidence to support claims of deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure.”
The team emphasized that its mandate is to ensure transparency and accountability in coalition actions, and that any violations—if proven—would be addressed through appropriate legal and disciplinary channels.
The statement comes amid renewed scrutiny from international organizations and media outlets regarding the humanitarian impact of the conflict in Yemen. JIAT reiterated its openness to cooperation with UN agencies and human rights groups to clarify facts and uphold the principles of justice.
This latest denial adds to a series of previous assessments in which the coalition has been cleared of wrongdoing, though calls for independent verification and broader peace efforts continue to grow.
